NGORONGORO PASTORALISTS COUNCIL REVIEWS EDUCATION SUPPORT AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PRIORITIES

NGORONGORO | AUGUST 18, 2026

The Executive Committee of the Ngorongoro Pastoralists Council convened on August 18, 2026, to deliberate on a number of matters, including the review and approval of a list of Form Five students from 11 wards within Ngorongoro Division who will receive educational support from the Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority (NCAA).

The list of beneficiaries was compiled based on recommendations submitted by all 11 wards comprising 25 villages in the division. Each ward nominated three students to benefit from the programme, an initiative aimed at further strengthening relations between the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and communities living within the conservation area.

The Ngorongoro Conservation Commissioner, Abdul-Razaq Badru, said that alongside supporting education services for students in Ngorongoro Division, an assessment of water and road infrastructure needs in areas facing challenges will be conducted within the coming week.

He said the NCAA plans to drill seven boreholes and rehabilitate sections of the road network within the conservation area to improve access for both local communities and tourists.

He added that the NCAA, in collaboration with telecommunications companies, also plans to strengthen communication services across the conservation area, with significant improvements expected in many areas by the end of 2026.

The Executive Committee of the Ngorongoro Pastoralists Council comprises elected councillors, village chairpersons, traditional leaders, women’s representatives, the NCAA Conservation Commissioner, and youth representatives.
