The National Police Service on Thursday, May 11 embarked on the recruitment of service men countrywide.
The exercise, that recorded large turn outs across the county centers, targets at least 10,000 youth across the country.According to Musengi, the recruits are ready to serve in the second month and therefore no reason to raise alarm if the recruits are deployed to beef up security during the elections period.
“In 2013, the officers who were in college were also deployed. There is always a shortage,” said Musengi.
Musengi said that the deployment of the recruits will ensure that police presence is felt countrywide as well as enhance a smooth election exercise.
Musengi further issued a stern warning to those recruits who will use fake documents of dire consequences adding that another thorough vetting exercise will be conducted in the training centers to filter out such culprits.
Kenyans aged between 18 and 28 years and with a mean grade of D+ and above in KCSE exams are encouraged to participate.
Recruits must also obtain clearance from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation with candidates required to present their academic certificates at recruitment centres.
