Congratulating
Donald Trump on winning the U.S. presidential election, Britain’s Prime
Minister Theresa May on Thursday (November 9) said the two countries
special relationship would remain intact, despite Trump’s controversial
campaign.“We have a long-standing and enduring special relationship which is built on shared values of freedom and democracy and enterprise and I look forward to working with President-elect Trump to ensure that we can maintain the security and prosperity of our two nations in the future,” said May.
She did not address directly comments Trump made about women during the campaign, re-iterating that she was looking forward to working with him and that America and Britain are close partners in trade, security and defence
