15 camels killed as raiders shoot at them indiscriminately in Meru

Dead camel Dead camel Three Somali herders are counting losses after their 15 camels were killed by suspected Meru raiders at Shab area near the disputed Meru-Isiolo border Monday evening.
Two other camels were injured while five are still missing.
The herders were grazing their animals when suspected herders from Igembe North suddenly rounded up the camels before spraying them with bullets.
No one was injured during the incident.
Hassan Yarrow, a Somali elder, described the shooting incident as a case of malicious damage as the over twenty attackers only rounded the camels spraying bullets on them.
Yarrow called upon the government to make good its resolve to tackle acts of lawlessness and apprehend the attackers to convince the aggrieved Somali herders to refrain from retaliating.
He also said that the elders had contained their youth not to avenge the attack with the faith that security personnel will act fast to bring the attackers to book.
