As fate would have it, the lad survived the suicide attempt after landing on the back of one of the cars in the parking lot.
Although his motive to kill himself is not known, eyewitness accounts reveal that the man was overheard saying that he was fed up with life and wanted to die minutes before he took the plunge.
The young man was later rushed to hospital after on-lookers called for help.
He is likely to face charges of attempting to take his own life if/when he gets out of hospital.
