Margaret Kenyatta has spent her time as First Lady working hard for the well-being of our nation’s women who have over the years faced societal hostilities and discrimination. In effort to spearhead change the First Lady launched the Beyond Zero Campaign aimed at aiding health problems of mothers and children across the country.
Her campaign which has since been a success attracted a standing ovation at the 59th session of the Commission on the Status of Women in New York.
The First Lady launched the 3rd Edition of the First Lady’s Half Marathon slated for March 6, yesterday.
The launch which was held at State House, Nairobi had in attendance high profiled guests that included Diplomats, Government Departments, the Corporates, the Media, UN agencies, spouses of County Governors , members of women parliamentary Association and the civil society among others.
The Marathon is aiming at a record audience of 70,000 men and women, up from 50,000 participants in the past year. In her address, the First Lady said the Beyond Zero campaign has raised Sh 540 million besides receiving donations in kind of medical equipment and kits.
