Most powerful drug lord escapes prison

The most notorious Mexican drug lord, Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman, has escaped a maximum-security prison for the second time after his recapture.
According to a statement from the National Security Commission, El Chapo disappeared from the prison’s security camera surveillance network in Altiplano prison, near Mexico City after he was last seen around 9 pm in the shower area on Saturday.

Upon checking his cell, the authorities found it empty and a massive manhunt immediately constituted to hunt him down.
El Chapo, the head of the powerful Sinaloa Cartel which is believed to control most of the major crossing points for drugs at the U.S – Mexico border, had escaped from a Mexican high-security prison in 2001 after he bribed prison officials and hid in a laundry basket
His drug empire stretches throughout North America, Europe and Australia and is estimated by Forbes to have amassed a net fortune estimated at more than $1 billion with nearly 100,000 lives lost in its bloody drug war in Mexico.
